S2 E14 - Spiced Pear + Patriotism
On this week's episode, we're enjoying a Spiced Pear Bourbon cocktail and then talking about the intersection of patriotism and Christianity. Ingredients
SPICED PEAR SYRUP
- 1 cup pear juice (not from concentrate or 3 ripe pears blitzed in a blender with ¼ cup of water) 
- 2-inch nub of ginger 
- 2 cinnamon sticks 
- 5 cloves 
- ¼ cup brown sugar 
COCKTAIL
- 1oz spiced pear syrup 
- 2oz bourbon or NA substitute 
- 1/2oz lemon juice 
- tonic water 
Recipe
SPICED PEAR SYRUP
- Add all ingredients except brown sugar to a pan 
- Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes 
- Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar until dissolved 
- Strain into container and use within one week 
COCKTAIL
- add syrup, bourbon and lemon juice to a mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled 
- strain into lowball glass with one large ice cube 
- top off with tonic water
